African Fashion and Culture, Right Here in St. Louis

Afro World has been dressing and connecting the community since 1970, offering African clothing, hair extensions, jewelry, and gifts to families, students, and anyone who wants to feel closer to their heritage. Our doors are open to shoppers of every age, from parents dressing their kids for a cultural event to teachers looking for classroom resources, and Ms. Sheila and our team are always on hand to help. We work closely with schools, churches, museums, and community groups across St. Louis County and the Normandy area, and we've built our name around people who want more than a transaction — they want a place that reflects who they are.

Gifts With African Roots

Our shelves carry dashiki shirts, Kente cloth dresses, Ankara skirts, Boubou robes, and Agbada suits for men, women, and children, alongside hair extensions built to match natural afro textures. Beyond clothing, we stock beaded jewelry, wooden earrings, cowrie shell bracelets, headwraps, and tote bags made from authentic African fabric. We also carry African poetry and literature, wood carvings, and beauty staples like shea butter and black soap, giving St. Louis shoppers a full range of African products in one location. Whatever you're looking for, chances are you'll find it right here on our shelves.

How We Work With You

Getting started at Afro World is simple: stop by our St. Louis location or reach out by phone to talk through what you're looking for, whether that's an outfit for an event, a hair extension consultation, or booking a workshop for your school or organization. From there, our team walks you through our current selection, offers styling or fitting guidance on the spot, and arranges custom tailoring when needed. For workshops and events, we coordinate scheduling, content, and logistics directly with your group so everything is ready well before the date, and we stay in touch by phone, email, or live chat throughout, every step of the way.

A Family Business Started in 1970

Russell Little, Sr. and Thelma Little opened Afro World in St. Louis with one goal: give the community a place to find real African clothing, art, and beauty products, and to feel proud doing it. More than fifty years later, that same store still stands on Natural Bridge Rd, now guided by their son, Victor D'Wayne Little. What started as a small shop grew into the Afro World Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit expanding that original mission into education, youth programs, and cultural preservation for the next generation of St. Louis families.
